Rules
Start
Each player is secretly dealt an Ace. Players win by obtaining cards that match the suit of their assigned Ace.
Your Turn
On your turn, either Draw or Trade.
- Draw: Take the top card of the draw pile in secret. Put it in your Bank face down or on your Trading Floor face up.
- Trade: Offer any number of cards from your Trading Floor for any number of cards from one other player's Trading Floor.
- If your trade is rejected, you're unable to send another offer to that player till your next turn. You can still send offers to other players, or draw instead.
Bank
Cards placed into your Bank are not revealed or moved until the end of the game.
Trading Floor
Cards placed on your Trading Floor can be traded later on. Once a card is there, it stays there until it is traded away. Cards you receive in a trade can go either in your Bank or back on your Trading Floor.
Forced Draw
If every active player trades consecutively, the next player must draw.
Winning
When the draw pile is empty, players count how many cards in their Bank and Trading Floor match the Secret Suit of their Ace. The player with the highest count wins. If two players have the same amount, the winner is determined by tiebreakers:
- Most Sister Suit cards(Cards that share the color of your Secret Suit)
- Most total cards
- Most face cards
- Highest total value (Face cards count as 10)
Bot Personalities
Bots are randomly assigned personalities before each game. On Easy Mode, you can see which personality each bot has. On Normal Mode, their personalities are hidden. On Hard Mode, one of the bots will be the "Hustler" personality, which plays more like a skilled human would.

Version 3.4.3

- Expanded the Sum card back's green number matrix so it fills the full card instead of clustering on one portion.

- Corrected the Credits version link and Version Log card grouping.
Version 3.2
- Online History now records detailed draws, placements, offers, counters, rejections, and completed trades like Solo History.
- Invite prompts now visibly open the online waiting room for both players before a match starts.
- Online bots use their table positions as names and no longer answer “Thanks” after your latest interaction was with a human.
- Fixed online Trading Floor and trade statistics that could remain at zero.
- Results now use Secret Suit and Sister Suit terminology.
- Added mutual opt-in Full Chat under Matchmaking settings.
- Prevented a completed game’s delayed end reveal from resurfacing after a new game starts.
Version 3.1
- Aligned the two full Qs in the desktop startup wordmark so their circular bowls overlap cleanly, while keeping both tails visible.
Version 3.0.9
- Moved the iPhone Build Trade / Counter Offer controls to a fixed bottom HUD above the safe area, keeping the table and selectable cards unobstructed as much as possible.
- Removed iPhone priority-panel table resizing so opening gameplay panels no longer changes the board size; Android and desktop remain unchanged.

- Kept the full-size iPhone table, Safari-safe floating panels, restored menu layering, and unchanged Android/Desktop layouts.
Version 3.0.7

- Kept the 3.0.2 card-back unlock announcement fix: unlocks stay above the endgame results until clicked or tapped.
Version 3.0.2
- Corrected the decorative table two-tailed Q alignment so both Q layers read as one symbol.
- Card-back unlock announcements now appear above the endgame results and stay visible until clicked or tapped.
Version 3.0.1
- Improved multi-card trade selection on small touch screens so selected cards no longer expand over neighboring tap targets.
- Updated the decorative table wordmarks to use Quarta's two-tailed Q.
- Changed the endgame stat label from “Suit cards” to “Secret Suit cards.”
- Corrected the black-card order in the Advanced Tips Sister Suit example.

Version 3.0
- Standardized “Secret Suit” capitalization across player-facing text.
- Standardized the first tiebreaker terminology as “Sister Suit” in Rules and Advanced Tips.
- Promoted the verified 2.9.9 launch candidate to 3.0 after additional real-device iPhone confirmation.
- No gameplay, leaderboard, Cloud Save, reconnect, matchmaking, challenge, Trial, achievement, bot, audio, or card-back behavior changed from 2.9.9.
Version 2.9.9
- Added the Quarta startup splash using the same overlaid, 180°-rotated Q treatment as the card backs, plus the four card suits.
- The splash runs on a fresh page load/visit and does not retrigger just because an existing tab becomes active again.
- The opening Ace deal now plays the local player's equipped card-back deal sound before the Ace Reveal sound.
- Real-device iPhone testing confirmed the live game no longer requires scrolling.
Version 2.9.7.2
- Restored the Quarta browser favicon using the gold double-tailed Q mark.
- No gameplay, text, leaderboard, Cloud Save, reconnect, audio, challenge, Trial, achievement, or device-layout behavior changed from 2.9.7.1.
Version 2.9.7.1
- Removed two redundant implementation details from the Rules page: final-card auto-Bank behavior and the counteroffer ratio restriction.
- Kept Trading Floor permanence and post-trade placement guidance because those rules affect player decisions directly.
- No gameplay behavior changed from 2.9.7.
Version 2.9.7
- Humanized player-facing text across the table, Rules, tutorial, Profile, card backs, results, and supporting UI.
- Leaderboards no longer require Google Save; anonymous Firebase players publish automatically after eligible Solo or Online games.
- Google Save is now strictly for cloud persistence and carrying progress across devices.
- Kept final-card auto-Bank, counteroffer restrictions, Trading Floor permanence, reconnect, card-back audio, challenges, Trials, and all prior 2.9.6 behavior intact.
Version 2.9.6
- Restricted the iPhone live-game viewport resizing rules to iOS devices so Android keeps its normal, stable table size.
- Bank / Trading Floor choices and other temporary action panels no longer shrink the table on Android.
Version 2.9.5
- Added a unique sound effect for every unlockable card back; Classic continues to use the original Card Dealt sound.

- Collapsed the long music and sound attribution list so Special Thanks and Version remain easy to reach.
- Changed Dark Matter's requirement text to “Unlock every other solo card back.”
Version 2.9.4
- The final card is now automatically Banked instead of being placed on the Trading Floor, without counting as a voluntary Bank placement.
- Counteroffers must change at least one card and cannot worsen the countering player's card-count ratio compared with the original offer.
- Improved short iPhone viewport handling so the live game board and main controls fit without scrolling.
- Added Clark, Laurie, and Rach to Special Thanks.
- Removed the remaining explanatory subtitle above Online Card Backs.
- Kept the existing reconnect, matchmaking, Cloud Save, challenges, Trials, achievements, and online features intact.
Version 2.9.3
- Added reconnect-after-disconnect for active online matches, with Reconnect and Leave Match choices before the New Game screen.
- Leaving a disconnected match makes that abandoned seat automatically place its draws on the Trading Floor so the table can keep moving.
- Added a hidden five-tap Cloud Save logout for switching Google accounts on shared devices and for testing.
- Finalized the secret Abundance card back as an overflowing hoard of stacked suit symbols; it remains excluded from Dark Matter.
Version 2.9.2

- Shortened the Matchmaking descriptions for Open, Closed, and Hidden.
- Updated the Credits heading to “Music and Sound by Pixabay.com”.

- Added versioned script and stylesheet URLs so future patches reliably load fresh code.
- Hardened Firebase cache behavior for HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
Version 2.9
- Leaderboard now ranks by total wins by default, with SQR and OQR retained as secondary ratings.

- Counter is no longer offered when it would simply repeat the exact same trade.
- Added the secret Abundance card back for witnessing a game decided by the Total Cards tiebreaker.
- Corrected the tiebreaker example to use the Eight of Diamonds.
Version 2.8.8.6
- First-time players no longer publish as available for matchmaking before the tutorial starts.
- Tutorial gating now applies from startup through completion, preventing online-arrival prompts and invites during the first-run tutorial.
Version 2.8.8.5
- Moved Quarta to Firebase Hosting and restored Google Cloud Save sign-in and persistence.
- Fixed stale online presence so disconnected players expire instead of lingering as inviteable "Player" entries.
- Button Layout now swaps every top action, including Challenges and New Game, while Right remains the default.
- Simplified the Challenges popup and promoted total progress plus refresh time into the old Daily Challenges heading position.
Version 2.8.8.4
- Players in the tutorial are no longer available for online game invites.
- Declining an invite prevents that player from inviting you again for five minutes.
- Invite sending now re-checks live availability so stale lobby presence cannot bypass the tutorial lockout.

- Stopped Easy mode from repeating bot personality labels on the endgame results screen.
- Corrected the fifth card in the tiebreaker example to the Eight of Hearts.

- Added the in-game version number at the bottom of Credits.
